Life is Short.

Life is Short.

Life is short.

Nearly everything takes longer than you first anticipate. You need to figure out the most efficient way to do things to get the most out of life.

However, that sometimes means you need to take a break and stop pushing yourself over the edge to near exhaustion and burnout. Don’t feel guilty about giving yourself a rest.

Putting that guilt on yourself is the type of stress that deteriorates your overall health and well being. You’ll feel it deep down to the cellular level of your body.

Spend some time doing nothing, if not today, at least at some point this week and feel good about it! When you are recharged you’ll be more efficient in the long run.

If you’ve been running yourself ragged lately, demand yourself to stop if that’s what it takes.

Ask yourself what on earth are you putting yourself through, if it means your quality of life is the pits because you’re drained.

You deserve better, but you’ve got to be firm with yourself sometimes and say ‘enough is enough.’

Your time will be more constructive when you’re feeling better. You’ll be better able to make choices about what really matters and how you want to be spending the time you do have in life.

In the West we have a tendency to be profit-oriented, where everything is measured according to the results and we get caught up in being more and more active to generate results. In the East — especially in India — I find that people are more content to just be, to just sit around under a banyan tree for half a day chatting to each other. We Westerners would probably call that wasting time. But there is value to it. Being with someone, listening without a clock and without anticipation of results, teaches us about love. The success of love is in the loving — it is not in the result of loving.
